2:54pm: I have things I want to say, I just need to find the time and energy to say them...

6th November 2013

2:31am: Yeah. This is the kind of night that I enjoy, and yet, despise at the same time. I'm awake, as usual, but I'm at work, where I need to get things done so I can go home, so I can get up and come back to work. Problem is, I'm out of fucks to give, and tapping into my well of rage in order to function in any meaningful fashion. I just want to throw everything off the stage and tear the building to the ground with my bare hands.

Not going to do that, though. Going to go power through striking risers and get the hell out of here for a few hours, like a responsible human being.

So it goes.

4:22pm: I want to write something here, but at the moment I'm at a loss for words.

The world has been very interesting the last few weeks.

So it goes.

10:06pm: Want!
First off: I know, two posts in the same day, WTF!

Secondly, I just got an email from my very good friend whom I've never met, Tony Comstock about an AMAZING opportunity: Tony's giving away a chance to spend 5 days/4 nights on a fully equipped live-aboard yacht.

Here's the info.

They've also got a Kickstarter drive to help make it possible.

Spread the word, and if you're interested, apply.

8:58pm: Yummy rum!
This past weekend, I was introduced to a new liquid crack that is simply amazing: Christine's Butterscotch Rum. This is from the amazing punkwalrus's amazing wife. SO GOOD! om nom nom good. So good I almost lost a hand trying to get it back from anushin.

Hi! I'm really glad that you liked it. It's easy to make. The glass flask was purchased from The Container Store. I think it's an 8 ounce flask.

Christine's Butterscotch Rum
7 oz Bacardi Superior Silver Rum
30 Butterscotch Discs * See Note *
1 Large mouth, tightly sealing container

Put the rum and 10 of the discs in the container, seal and shake. Shake every time you think about it. After a few hours, add 10 more, shake and repeat until it's all dissolved. Typically, it'll be finished in about 24 -36 hours. Funnel into the ready flask.

*Note - The type of butterscotch disc you use matters. For example, the batch that you received was made with discs purchased at CVS. They were a relatively clear, deep amber disc. What you saw in the flask was the end product. The second batch that I made was from discs from Giant. They were a bit more opaque. It produced a rum that separated when dissolved. Now, I could have filtered this through coffee filters, like I do the skittles vodka, but I didn't have time and just bottled it the way it was. Before drinking, I just shook it up and it became a creamier version of the original. It was different, but equally as good. I do think that I prefer the clear kind a bit better.

So I know what we'll be doing this week...

4:21pm: My People
As I prepare for another convention, another weekend of busting my ass and busting heads to make magic happen, I think about "why." As in, "Why do I do this?" I came across this quote on a friends' journal, and it speaks to the "why"

"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels. While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." -Jack Kerouac

See, these are my People. The Freaks, the Geeks, the Outcasts. These are the people I have chosen as my own. I was one of them, and now I am separate, by my own making, but I still know the difficulties they face. I want to help give them their own space, their Xanadu. I admire their passion, their creativity. These things I don't have, I nurture and protect as best I can, because it costs me nothing to stand between them and those who don't understand.

As another dastardly fellow has recently taught me, "We do what we do, and owe neither explanation nor apology." And this is true, I don't owe an explanation, but I find it useful to provide one from time to time, as it can help to clarify purpose and intent, which can enable others to aid me. But, I am reminded, regarding intent, "It doesn't matter why you use it, demonic magic is still demonic."

And I'm okay with that.

10:04am: Craft Services Cart Redux
From Recently Updated

So, this is what I was able to produce in about 45 minutes work with Google's SketchUp program. It was fast, easy, and a bit of fun.

What is this? Well, I posted about it a while back.

It's my Craft Services cart, designed to hold our mini-fridge, microwave, and 4 14-gallon Rubbermaid totes that we can supplies in. There's also enough space for 2 10-gallon Rubbermaids, or for other miscellaneous crap.

The front face will have folding legs allowing it to serve as a 36"x60" table, as well.

I'm rather excited at how easy it was to draft this up, granted, I had already drafted it by hand.

Now I just need to make it happen.

11:39pm: It's that time again
AnimeUSA is almost upon us once again.

OH SHIT!

Now that that's out of the way, y'all should come out and see this thing. It's a hell of a show, and we've got something for almost everyone. We've got some awesome DJs, some cool programming, dealers for everything from Steampunk to Anime to things that blink. We've got RPGs, CCG, TCG, Board games and Video games. We've got bands like the super awesome Clockwork Dolls, and so much more.

We've got stuff for the whole family, from wee-little to Adult. Come on out and join the insanity.

Did I mention I'm the Evil Overlord of this thing? Yeah, that's how awesome it is.

Overlord out

Storage for things
Operates off a 15A circuit
Power available on top

8:07pm: BOB, What's the point?
So, I'm building a Bug-Out Bag. I want to have a clear objective in building my BOB, because without one, it's VERY easy to go overboard.

My intent is to build a kit that will keep 2 people alive for 3 days, in any local climate, while waiting for the restoration/establishment of government services. In time, I'll build a BOB for anushin, to split/compliment mine, but for the time being, her's will be a simple backpack with clothes. 3 days is simply a starting point, as well. This bag will serve as a foundation upon which we could survive for a much longer time, but not without additional assistance.

This bag will be good for anything from a house fire, as it will live in the coat closet by the front door, to tornado ripping off the roof.

The bag is built on the idea that I may not have anything else with me. I may have rolled out of bed to find smoke filling the room with only the ability to get down the stairs and out the door, barely slowing down when I grab my bag.

With all this in mind, I've got the bag itself, and am slowly packing it. I've started an Amazon List, with my ideal items on it, but until I get those, I've got to get enough to sustain me.

What are your thoughts? What would you differently?

2:14am: New LJ crossover policy
I have this VERY strong urge to start posting random comments on peoples' LJs that also post to my facebook feed. Particularly on those posts exclaiming how terrible this new "feature" is and that they don't want anyone to use it.

But I can't really be bothered with letting LJ log in to my FB...

4:21pm: Zombie info via Cracked.com
Cracked just posted a new article on why the Zombie apocalypse will never actually happen, which is a fairly well put together list. They've done several articles on the topic of zombies, and I wanted to take a moment and collect them for future reference here.

4:25pm: Rockstar Meme
Who is your Rockstar alter-ego? (from hatefulping

I'm pretty sure I'm either Ted Nugent or Beck. Ted for the survival attitude, or Beck for the geeky, off-beat, does-whatever-he-feels-is-right/ignore-the-mainstream thing.

Neither of these is particularly flattering...
